We are seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to join our midwest-based logistics company. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in managing and maintaining semi-trailer equipment, with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Track and manage company assets, including semi-trailers and related equipment
Oversee semi-trailer equipment repairs and maintenance
Implement and manage a system for charging damage costs back to customers
Develop and manage routine maintenance plans for all equipment
Coordinate and oversee annual DOT inspections
Handle equipment claims, particularly those related to damage in auto manufacturing plants
Manage carrier interchange and trailer hand-off processes
Innovate and implement new strategies for trailer inspection and damage documentation during drop and hook operations
Qualifications:
Proven experience in equipment management within the trucking industry
Strong knowledge of semi-trailer maintenance and repair processes
Experience with asset tracking systems and inventory management
Familiarity with DOT regulations and inspection requirements
Understanding of equipment claim processes, especially in auto manufacturing settings
Knowledge of carrier interchange agreements and procedures
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage maintenance schedules
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
