OVERVIEW: Exciting opportunity to work with a growing international organization! Merritt has an immediate need for a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join their estimating team. The Estimator position requires exceptional attention to detail and a keen ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze RFP package: architectural drawings, project specifications, schedules, renderings, and any other information provided.
  • Develop relationships with clients during the estimating process to assist the sales team with securing the contract.
  • Prepare accurate scope take-offs and costing using accepted industry standards in conjunction with company software formats, company manufacturing methods and standards, previous project histories, and installation factors.
  • Source and negotiate to obtain the best pricing from suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with company buyout vendors.
  • Prepare and execute all proposals using company standard forms and collaterals.
  • Track and update status of all proposals in CRM
  • Organize all information for effective hand off to project management after contract award.
  • Identify change order requests and costing in conjunction with project management teams.
  • Travel with sales team members, as required, to survey sites or aid in presentation| close of a given project.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mastery level of Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in PlanSwift, Bluebeam or similar take-off software
  • Working knowledge of file sharing services such as Dropbox
  • Residential construction industry experience, Millwork REQUIRED 2 years minimum
  • Professional etiquette and polished interpersonal skills along with the ability to maintain and promote excellent working relationships with co-workers and vendors.
  • Proactive and high-level of personal initiative with the willingness to learn new skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Focus and goal oriented; sense of urgency – must be able to meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to work extended morning and evening hours with occasional weekend hours.
  • Integrity and high level of confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
