Estimator - Metal Fabrication and Erection

Location: Delaware and surrounding states (WFH with meetings on site with Delaware Department of Transportation and internal team)

Local candidates are preferred. Non-local candidates are welcome to apply but must be willing to relocate to Delaware without relocation assistance.

About the Role:


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Metal Fabrication and Erection Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in securing new projects by preparing comprehensive and competitive bids. You will work closely with customers, engineers, and internal teams throughout the bidding process.


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (engineering, construction management, etc.) preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in the metal fabrication industry, with a minimum of 2-3 years of estimating experience
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to prepare accurate material take-offs
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant estimating software
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Superior mathematical skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with contractual language a plus


Responsibilities:


  • Analyze project scope, customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs), drawings, specifications, and project schedules
  • Generate comprehensive material take-offs based on technical documents
  • Research and source materials to compile accurate cost estimates
  • Calculate labor hours required for project completion
  • Obtain pricing for subcontracted work as needed
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their specific requirements and provide value-added solutions
  • Work with engineering or utilize other resources for design/build projects
  • Participate in internal processes and approvals to ensure successful bids
  • Develop detailed proposals outlining project timelines, payment terms, and conditions
  • Prepare comprehensive estimate summaries, project data sheets, and ensure proper distribution of all documentation
  • Attend project kick-off meetings as needed
  • Conduct follow-up with clients to ensure project satisfaction upon completion

  • In general, this job requires sitting (often working on a computer). Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hand and wrists
  • Dexterity: Ability to type using a keyboard with relative efficiency, ability to make handwritten notes and sketches indoors and outdoors at industrial plants and construction sites at any time of the year.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to discern single-line and 3-dimensional computer images representing objects being designed or drafted including the ability to discern colors. This includes close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
