Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 / year based on experience + Quarterly Bonus Potential + Sales Bonus

The Old Ebbitt Grill, one of Clyde's Restaurant Groups 13 concepts is seeking an Event Sales Manager. Old Ebbitt Grill is DC's oldest saloon and highest-grossing restaurant, and is located steps from the White House. It is designed to host events of 450 seated and 1200 standing guests. It has 3 private and 3 semi-private spaces which include an outdoor terrace that overlooks the White House, an atrium with a soaring fourteen-story ceiling and incredible skylight, a room with beautiful mahogany panels, and a private bar, and much more. This position will report to the General Manager.

Great position for anyone with upscale restaurant, hotel or catering experience as an event assistant, event coordinator, catering sales coordinator, catering sales manager, catering manager, event manager or director of sales. Must have experience coordinating and selling events.

This position is onsite.

What We Look For In An Event Sales Manager

  • 3+ years of experience selling, booking, and executing events - required
  • Restaurant experience is preferred but not required
  • A flexible schedule with the ability to work some weekends and evenings
  • A commitment to ensuring superior customer service
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, strong decision-making ability, sense of urgency, empathy, and attention to detail

What You Will Do As a Event Sales Manager

Event Sales

  • Identify qualifying business potential, close business, overcome objections, negotiate, upsell, and understand the client’s needs
  • Build and maintain client database to ensure repeat business
  • Manage business on the books successfully and work pipeline of inquiries, prospects, tentative and definite bookings
  • Respond to private event inquiries, manage calendar, and ensure events are appropriately booked

Event Management

  • Correspond and communicate with private event guests and strategically plan, orchestrate, communicate, and ensure exceptional execution of events
  • Coordinate all logistical event details including site inspections/tours, tastings, vendor meetings, day-of onsite client contact, menus, and room layout
  • Make confirmation calls to guests, make recommendations, and ensure menus and guest counts are finalized
  • Ensure that food and beverage minimums are met
  • Diligently keep contracts, BEOs (Banquet Event Orders), and payments for all events managed, on time and organized
  • Lead BEO meeting, communicate confirmations and updates, and ensure that BEOs are communicated clearly to managers and kitchen
  • Provide outstanding customer service, respond to complaints or feedback, and resolve issues quickly
  • Hire, train, and lead the banquet / event staff
