Position Overview

The Bilingual Family Advocate will provide a range of culturally competent home-based services for all families participating in the Head Start programs including parenting education; developmental milestones; health and nutrition education; home management skills; crisis intervention; crisis intervention; vocational development; and, social services linkage, all in partnership with the client.

Provides home based parent child activities to promote positive, nurturing interaction between parents and their children.

Ensures program services are in compliance with Head Start/Early Head Start performance standards.

Responsible for integration of services for families in the classroom, home, center, and community.

Promotes parent involvement in both home and center-based activities. This includes encouraging meaningful parent volunteer opportunities.

Seeks family strengths and competencies, identifying ways to develop those strengths in building the Family Partnership Agreement.

Conducts face-to-face client, collateral, and provider conversations to make appropriate referrals and linkages to other community resources as needed.

Maintains client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames.

Participates in the enrollment of all children and families.

Ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests.

Participates in case conferences and collaborates with other service providers working with families.

Develops and maintains ongoing outreach strategies to inform families and the community of services and activities at the center.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Child Development preferred, or a bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a field the agency considers to be equivalent combined with relevant experience.
  • Experience with at-risk families preferred.
  • Bilingual skills highly preferred.
  • Strong empathetic and relationship skills required.
  • Ability to see the families the agency serves through a lens of empowerment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.

Hybrid Eligible

Given the nature of this role, the Bilingual Family Advocate will need to be able to work an onsite and remote work schedule.

All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of criminal background checks, educational verification, medical, and proof of immunizations.
