Fashion Designer

Based in the Tribeca neighborhood of NYC, Stateless Fashion Design & Consulting is a team of fashion design, branding, and production management experts. Stateless is outsourced by apparel brands around the world and across categories, for the design, development, and production of their apparel lines.

Job Description: 

• Work with Project Managers and Product Development teams across various product categories (mens, womens, childrenswear, contemporary, sportswear, active, sweaters, swim) for products manufactured in the US and overseas
• Work through designs with the Stateless Team and Client/Brand to ensure everyone is aligned with the vision of the brand
• Sketch and build tech packs to be passed to internal project managers prior to sending to the client/brand
• Consult with Client/Brand during sketch reviews, fabric selection and throughout the entire design and development process until all elements are approved for production
• Attend design review/approval meetings with cross functional teams (Stateless Team and Client/Brand) as needed
• Build artwork tech packs with pantone codes for original artwork, labels, etc. 
• Consult with Client/Brand on sample size, fit, garment construction, finishing details, etc. to ensure fit is established from initial specs

      -     Work closely with product developers and designers to ensure high standard of work is   

followed through with the factories  

Job Requirements: 

• Knowledge of the apparel design and development process including, but not limited to, flat sketching and creating tech packs, detailed measurement specifications, pattern making, construction, grading, costing, manufacturing, materials and machinery
• Work within calendar to ensure deadlines are maintained
• Remote work and in-person fittings and meetings as needed
• Ability and confidence to client-face and consult
• Must be able to be in-person in NYC office for fittings
• Must be EXTREMELY detail oriented

Job Title: 

Freelance (full-time or part-time), with the potential of transitioning to full-time employment if it's a good fit

Experience: 

• 5+ years experience in creative/fashion design across categories (required)
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator for sketching/tech packs (required)
• Ability to create original artwork/use Photoshop or similar (highly preferred)
• Ability to create AI design imagery for direction or presentation purposes (highly preferred)
• Bachelor's or relevant certificate 
• Strong knowledge of measurement specs and apparel fittings
• Ability to take design/style direction and create sketches based on discussion and feedback
• Ability to work independently and to meet multiple deadlines
• Ability to write professionally 
• Ability to consult with different clients and be highly collaborative
• Corporate fashion experience (preferred)
