NIH T32-supported POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

are available at the Wake Forest School of Medicine for candidates seeking training in translational research pertaining to Aging and Alzheimer’s disease.

Multiple opportunities are available for fellows to engage in clinical, basic, and translational research. Wake Forest School of Medicine is home to two NIA-funded P30 Centers: The Claude D. Pepper Older Adult Independence Center and the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. In order to find the best ways to understand, prevent and treat aging-related chronic disease and disability including Alzheimer’s disease, fellows will participate in and learn techniques related to translational research includes the use of imaging and tissue biomarkers, functional, clinical and cognitive assessment, and rodent and non-human primate models of aging and disease. The Wake Forest T32 mentorship team includes over 70 full-time faculty members whose research spans basic, clinical, and population domains.

Postdoctoral fellows in the Center are provided with supervised didactic and experiential research training with individual and team mentoring from accomplished, cohesive, and multi-disciplinary faculty. They gain knowledge, skills and competencies in:

  • Scientific knowledge in the fields of aging and brain biology, geroscience, ADRD, and clinical geriatric outcomes
  • Expertise needed to successfully and ethically conduct preclinical experiments, clinical trials, and/or longitudinal cohort studies of relevance to older adults
  • Experience and expertise in the measurement of cognitive and/or physical disability outcomes
  • Specific technical or methodological skills in line with their individual interests


Applicants must have received a Ph.D., M.D., or a comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution, and must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)

  • Salary is commensurate with experience as specified by NIH stipend levels.
