About the Role: Fleet/Port Captain

Are you ready to navigate a thrilling career on the beautiful waters of Fort Lauderdale? As our Fleet/Port Captain, you'll be at the helm of our daily operations, ensuring our vessels run smoothly and safely. You'll train and oversee our fantastic crew, uphold maritime regulations, and deliver top-notch customer service. This hands-on role is perfect for someone who loves being in the field and working closely with an amazing team.


Your Mission:

  • Lead and inspire our Boat Crew and Ambassadors, upholding Water Taxi’s policies and procedures.
  • Train new captains, deckhands, and crew members, ensuring they meet our high standards.
  • Develop engaging training materials and conduct thorough field inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and General Managers to implement improvements and lessons learned.
  • Spearhead special projects focused on safety and navigation.
  • Ensure our vessels are sparkling clean and our guests have an unforgettable experience.
  • Assist with investigations, audits, regulatory inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Keep the Operations Manager updated with training documents and crew status.
  • Implement new policies and procedures from the management team.
  • Interface with customers, resolving any issues with a smile.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, including acting as Captain when needed.
  • Promote positive relations with business partners, clients, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements (like the USCG).
  • Stay updated on industry trends and recommend operational changes as needed.


What You Bring to the Crew:

  • US Coast Guard License - Master 100 ton and/or 5+ years of shoreside managerial experience in the maritime industry.
  • FCC Radio Operator’s License.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong English communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • High School diploma (post-secondary education preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Stellar leadership skills and the ability to develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Design thinking skills to solve problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and priorities.
