Job Description

Freelance Assistant Technical Designer for Kids Wear company

Full time on-site project could be anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months.

Hourly rate of $20-30.

Responsibilities

  • Support the apparel design team as the fit expert for all styles of all brands
  • Assist in fit sessions with models and designers
  • Once style/fit samples are approved, grade the specs for the desired sizes
  • Transfer the fit notes to the factory and answer their questions in revising a sample
  • Assist in design and development by flat sketching and tech packing
  • Communicates with internal team and vendors
  • When necessary, assist in making adjustments to patterns and samples for fit sessions

Requirements

  • Bachelors (BFA, BS, or BSCS) with specialization in apparel design
  • Completed courses in pattern making, advanced sewing/construction, tailoring and draping
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experienced in pattern making, sewing, grading, tech packing, flat sketching and fitting
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Illustrator and digital pattern design
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel for specking and grading purposes
  • Experienced in the apparel design process and knowledgeable of bulk production process
  • Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, self-starter and a team worker
