Your Role on the Team

The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI) is a part of UCI Health and the Susan & Henry College of Health Sciences. The Samueli Institute is working to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-informed treatment modalities, educating the public, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care, and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health.

We are looking for a motivated Health Coach to join the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. The Health Coach will conduct one-on-one health coaching sessions as well as group medical visits, developing personalized health plans, and providing education on nutrition, exercise, stress management, and other integrative health topics.

The Health Coach will support clients in behavior change strategies, monitor their progress, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Using skills as a seasoned, experienced health education professional, with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results for patient care and health management.

Must have certification in health and wellness coaching from the National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching.

  • Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field. Required
  • Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services. Required
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups. Required
  • Effective organizational skills. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs. Required
  • Strong writing and communication skills required. Required
  • Knowledge of integrative health treatment modalities Required

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • National Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a board-certified health and wellness coach

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in related area
  • Experience with facilitating discussions in group medical visits as well as providing support to clinicians in a group visit setting.
