Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) is adding a Hospital Director
to be an important member of our growing Operations Department.
Job Summary
The Hospital Director is the leader of the hospital. In this role, the Hospital Director is responsible for hospital performance against the five MVP KPIs, aligning and coordinating the work of the Practice Manager and Medical Director to achieve hospital goals, working closely with the Regional Director in support of company-wide initiatives, maintaining a strong and effective hospital work culture, and being an advocate for hospital needs. The Hospital Director must have a strong grasp of the operations and medical issues in the hospital, where improvement opportunities exist, and have an excellent working relationship with the Regional Director, Practice Manager, Medical Director and other hospital personnel enabling year after year performance improvement. The Hospital Director
must approach the role with a servant leader philosophy of listening and communicating to others, setting and working toward a vision of the future for the hospital, and developing a strong team and supportive work culture. The Hospital Director is the accountability partner at the clinic to ensure operations, medical and cultural objectives are met and reports to the Regional Director.
The Hospital Director will have a dual role, serving as either Practice Manager or Medical Director while also serving as the Hospital Director. A portion of his/her time will be dedicated exclusively to the role of Hospital Director while the majority of his/her time will be dedicated to the role of PM or MD.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
Serves as the voice of the hospital and is the main source of communication between MVP and the hospital
Demonstrates a servant leader philosophy by being engaged, listening to others, breaking down performance
barriers, creating a motivating team-oriented environment, providing open communication, being
approachable and modeling MVP best practices
Sets hospital vision and takes a leading role in developing the hospital business plan
Ensures the following objectives are met for the hospital they lead:
Responsible for achieving NPS and eNPS goals, reviewing feedback and driving plans of improvement
based on the results.
▪ ENPS score at the clinic meets the goal established
▪ NPS score at the clinic meets the goal established
▪ Employee turnover beats industry averages
EBITDA margins meet annual goals established
Revenue growth at the clinic meets the annual goals established
Clinic completes all MVP initiatives in accordance with the initiative plan and within the timeline
established during business planning (e.g., , Unleashed, Lab Journey, Golden Paw, Controlled
Substance Security, Strategic Business Planning, etc.)
Models and reinforces a strong, positive hospital culture
Promotes mentorship within the hospital to improve skills across the hospital
Takes ownership of Regulatory Matters
Lead the business in controlled substance compliance and control
Maintain OSHA compliance
Provides the hospital personnel with regular communication of information from RD and/or others within
MVP
Is a positive voice for MVP in the hospital and ensures the team understands the WHY behind
company initiatives
Provides key information from weekly CEO updates and other distributed company-wide MVP
information to hospital team members
Creates a highly functioning team within the hospital
Meets regularly with team members to discuss and implement improvement ideas
Recognizes performance expectations of MVP and strategizes with key hospital personnel and the
Regional Director on how to meet them
Participatesin MVP continuous learning and development programs
Maintains a professional working relationship with the Regional Director
Participates in Monthly financial reviews for the hospital
Ensuresfrequent communication keeping the hospital aligned with MVP direction, initiatives and strategy
Ensures continuous development of direct reports in the clinic per MVP talent management and succession
process (i.e., annual development plans, constant feedback, and coaching).
Anticipates recruiting needs and partners with the Talent Acquisition department and Regional Medical
Ambassadors to ensure a talent pipeline.
Reviews scheduling efficiency with managers to adapt to the needs of the business.
Reviews facility, equipment, and inventory needs and discusses with hospital team at regular intervals.
Reviews all pricing quarterly and ensures it is updated at least annually.
Responsible for ensuring that appropriate and current security roles within PIMS are maintained and
accurate; including but not limited to current employees, discounting and reminder set up.
Serves the additional role as Medical Director or Practice Manager to the hospital
Additional Functions
Acts as an ambassador for MVP’s brand in connection with all medical and non-medical standards
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
2-5 years in Veterinary or Human Healthcare multi-unit management preferred.
Ability to evaluate medical and operational needs of the hospital and develop solutions
Superior customer service and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to get things done in a timely and efficient manner.
Ability to develop strong and supportive working relationships with a wide variety of people and
backgrounds.
Exceptional written and oral presentation skills; ability to present concisely and with detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
General understanding of business financials, P&L, pricing, contract negotiations, revenues, and payroll.
