This position is expected to start around August 2024 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e through December 2024) or into Spring 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Compliance and Systems Testing
The intern will support two important functions for Tesla’s Energy Compliance teams: First, the development of solar PV and energy storage system (ESS) products through system level testing for performance and compliance verification. Tests performed at Tesla’s laboratories and at dedicated outdoor installations are primarily focused on ESS and PV system products as well as their interaction in system configurations. This testing focuses on validating performance as well as meeting industry standard requirements for product certification. Second, the intern will support a team focused on improving electrical and fire codes and standards which govern solar and energy storage products. This is a complimentary activity that incorporates results and findings from the testing function to better inform the code and standards requirements. This work requires hands-on support of ESS and solar array testing, addressing electrical, thermal, and functional performance, logistics support for new or changing test arrays and ESS configurations
Compliance Engineering/Product Safety and Grid Interoperability
Regulatory product compliance is a critical business function and a rapidly expanding sector. Regulatory complexity is increasing and continuously evolving with many local, national and international codes, standards and regulations (CSRs). Intern will support test and automation activities by designing, building and operating test fixtures. Intern will test and interface with high power high energy storage systems and subsystems. Intern will be able to contribute to the product construction reviews, execute product safety and grid interoperability testing, debug, data analysis, documentation, presenting and communicating results to the nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTL's). The ideal candidate will have understanding of high voltage, electrical principles and reading/generating electrical wiring diagram, track adequacy and success of test suites against requirements, design, build, and utilize test equipment

Expected Compensation
$20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
