The Impact You Will Make

The Legal Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team through comprehensive research, meticulous memo writing, and robust data management. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional legal setting, enhance legal research skills using Lexis Nexis, and contribute to the efficiency and organization of legal data.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed legal research using Lexis Nexis on various topics including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
  • Summarize findings clearly and concisely for use by attorneys and legal staff.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing relevant legal updates and developments.
  • Draft well-structured and persuasive legal memos and briefs based on research findings.
  • Ensure memos are thorough, accurate, and align with the legal team's requirements and standards.
  • Revise memos based on feedback from supervising attorneys.
  • Utilize Excel to organize, analyze, and manage legal data and documents.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets for tracking cases, deadlines, and other legal metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation of data reports and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Support the legal team in various administrative tasks as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input on ongoing legal matters.
  • Assist with special projects and other assignments as directed by the supervising attorney.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Must have completed at least one year of legal research and writing coursework and achieved a grade of B+ or better.
  • Previous experience in a legal setting or similar internship is preferred but not required.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

  • On-Site at our Corporate Office located in the Altamonte Springs, FL area.
