Providing administrative and legislative support to an elected Member of the Maryland House of Delegates
Responsibilities
§ Responding directly to constituent inquiries and resolving cases in an efficient and effective manner
§ Performing office inventory management, such as, supply and administrative-related purchasing within the budget provided by the Member
§ Networking with Senate and House offices in a collaborative and professional manner on issues related to the Member’s legislation and/or issues related to the District
§ Overseeing and managing all incoming and outgoing correspondence
§ Managing the Member’s calendar, schedules, appointments, and meetings
§ Attending meetings, events, and ribbon cuttings on behalf of the Member
§ Planning, organizing, and executing community-wide events
§ Preparing testimony for bill hearings and working directly with Bill Drafting and the Amendments Office as needed
§ Tracking legislation, committee hearings and voting schedules
§ Drafting monthly newsletters
§ Corresponding with the general public and various government agencies
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college / university preferred
Experience: Administrative staff or professional work.
