Job Description

The Office of Enterprise Planning is seeking professional-level project coordination and office management support to assist with major initiatives, research and analysis, and unit administration. The management intern will collaborate with the vice president for enterprise planning, the senior director of enterprise planning, and planning analysts to gain working knowledge and experience in how public enterprises develop and manage resources, create and implement strategic plans, communicate complex data to diverse constituencies, and organize and manage teams.


The Office of Enterprise Planning helps the ASU Enterprise to make better decisions. Serving ASU’s President, the office is responsible for integrating all plans across the ASU Public Enterprise to enable strategic decisions and support investments that advance the ASU Charter, operating with a long-term horizon. This work is accomplished through close collaboration with units across the ASU Enterprise to understand emerging needs, create plans, and monitor on execution of those plans. It requires our Enterprise Planning team to produce sound analyses, communicate effectively, and think probabilistically.

Salary Range

$20.00-$24.00 per hour; DOE

Essential Duties

Serves in an intern capacity for the Office of Enterprise Planning, which may include the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Administers the office’s student fellows program, including the recruitment of fellows, coordination of assignments from analysts to the fellows, and organization of student development activities. Identifies and coordinates other opportunities to engage ASU students in Enterprise Planning’s work (e.g., honors theses, capstone projects, relationships with student organizations).
  • Assists the vice president for enterprise planning and other members of the team with meeting preparation and coordination, including review, production, and design of meeting agendas, memoranda, presentations, and other supporting materials.
  • Designs content (e.g., graphics, charts, tables) for reports and presentations, formats those reports and presentations, and generally reviews written materials produced by Enterprise Planning team prior to their dissemination.
  • Conducts independent research and analysis on issues related to Enterprise Planning’s responsibilities, including by assembling and analyzing data and makes interpretations for application to area of assignment.
  • Supports ASU’s advocacy in furtherance of its activities in California, including its operations at the ASU California Center, by organizing and managing meetings, events, and other communications.
  • Assists in the development of models and forecasts that support programmatic and financial planning and decision-making.
  • Performs administrative functions for Enterprise Planning team, including tracking of requests to Enterprise Planning and of assignment statuses and supporting organization of team meetings.
  • Maintains databases and prepares administrative reports as needed.
  • Analyzes procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of management principles and practices. Knowledge of program coordination.
  • Knowledge of basic project management.


Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
