The Student Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, optimizes, and refines Student products and application technologies, including but not limited to mobile and web applications, collaboration tools, CRM products, budget/financial management products, HR applications, and other services. This department also works to optimize user experience, address digital accessibility needs, and establish the highest standards of quality assurance and release management for UCLA's administrative applications and technologies.


Position Summary


The Manager, Billing & Receivables (BAR) will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the BAR team, offering guidance, managing project timelines, and ensuring the optimal allocation of resources, while also serving as a liaison between the team and ITS leadership.


They will also oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Billing & Receivables products and services that support the university's strategic objectives and meet the evolving needs of UCLA's students, faculty, and staff (e.g., tuition payment systems). This leader will lead the prioritization of delivery plans, oversee the development of acceptance criteria as it relates to organizational goals, and facilitate continuous improvement to support growth and operational effectiveness.


The Manager, Billing & Receivables Products will partner with the cross-functional delivery teams to ensure products meet business and user requirements, and with business stakeholders to iterate on and improve the products over time.


The Manager, Billing & Receivables (BAR) will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Faculty Information products and applications. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.


Qualifications


  • Five years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, management, higher education, or a related field. (Required)
  • Two years Experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, or a related field. (Required)
  • Significant experience leading the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept to launch and ongoing refinement. (Required)
  • Significant experience managing billing and receivables products or similar in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. (Required)
  • Hands-on experience in the development and management of products throughout the entire lifecycle. (Required)
  • Experience aligning IT strategies with the overall goals and mission of the university. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)
  • Extensive experience solving technical and non-technical problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the proper resources. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • Has demonstrated experience leading in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  • Seven or more years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, computer science, management, higher education. (Preferred)
  • Five or more years Experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. (Preferred)
  • Has an understanding of how programs relate to other business strategies and initiatives. Strong understanding of the academic environment, including an understanding of billing and receivables needs and workflows. (Required)
  • Customer-focused approach to product design and development, with a deep understanding of user needs and behavior. (Required)
  • Proven ability to coordinate product releases, updates, and retirements in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans for the enhancement and expansion of faculty information products. (Required)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to medium-sized teams. (Required)
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
  • Able to lead data gathering efforts seeking information from multiple and diverse sources. Experience operating as a point of escalation. (Required)
  • Inspires creativity in others and advises teams on industry-leading practices, such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes. (Required)
  • Demonstrated leadership / management skills, including abilities in persuasion, negotiation, change management, and mentorship. (Required)
