On/Off Premise Sales Representative

Position Summary

The Sales Representative-Karl Strauss Brewing Co. successfully executes gaining new placements and growing sales in the market and channel as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager. He/She/They provide subject matter expertise in educating accounts on the Karl Strauss Distributing portfolio resulting in gaining new tap handles, shelf placements, and stacking opportunities when warranted. He/She/They are to conduct face-to-face account visits to all accounts (current and prospective) in the assigned territory. He/She/They are to sell the right beverage to the right account and will work to gain trust and relationships with all accounts in their territory.

In addition to selling, he/she/they will work events to help promote all brands in the Karl Strauss Distributing portfolio. Events can consist of a Keep the Glass Night, Tap Take Over, Meet the Brewer, staff educational, and store tastings. All activities are to be conducted following the strict ABC guidelines. He/She/They are agents of Karl Strauss and are to act accordingly. Finally, a successful Sales Represented is well organized, plans out their day far in advance, and is able to spot opportunities and react to them on the fly.

This is a full time commissions-only position in the North Inland Empire

Essential Functions & Duties

  • Visits assigned accounts to sell the right beverage to the right account.
  • Completes and submits orders in a timely manner. Orders are to be accurate and checked.
  • Increases permanent product disruption points at ambient and cold locations in stores above the competition.
  • Calls on local buyers, decision-makers, and key account managers on a consistent basis, building a strong relationship with customers and networking within the field.
  • Creates authentic relationships with account buyers to obtain and secure high-profile in-store square footage for the purposes of building Karl Strauss Distributed brands.
  • Runs promotions and beer tastings at licensed accounts and as directed by the RSM.
  • Assists the RSM with various sales/promotions, and/or related projects and assignments 30-60-90-day outlook on activity.
  • Drives execution of agreed and over and above national and local promotion opportunities.
  • Drives events across the territory in both on and off-premise markets.
  • Focuses on selling channel selling strategies to win placements for wholesalers.
  • Completes coverage of the defined territory. Completes all calls allocated to the individual territory.
  • Respects, enjoys and shares our craft at special events and promotions as assigned.
  • Beverage sales or merchandising experience preferred.
  • Minimum educational requirement is an Associate’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive buyer-seller relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Must be a self-starter, entrepreneurial, and capable of working at a high level with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a passion for spreading the goodwill of the Karl Strauss Brewing Company.
  • Must thrive in a community-focused and team-based environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel a must.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
