Outreach Worker
Job Description
The Town of Brewster is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of part-time Outreach Worker for the Council on Aging (COA). This position is responsible for performing administrative, technical, and professional work in planning, coordinating, and implementing social services for older and disabled adults.
Duties include but are not limited to; serves as an advocate for and assists older and disabled adults with gaining access to public support programs, including food programs, fuel assistant, adult day programs, support groups, and elder services. Coordinates and conducts community visitation to vulnerable or at-risk older adults to evaluate situations and assess needs. Conducts SHINE counseling and provides critical information on benefits of Medicare and MassHealth. Assists with the preparation of applications, forms, and required documentation for various assistance programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field and a minimum of two years’ experience related to social services and/or direct service or case management of clients, or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience. SHINE certification or the ability to become certified in the first year of employment. Is this the job for you? This is a part-time 19 hour a week position covered under the Town’s Personnel Bylaw Agreement, with a starting pay range of $29.95 - $32.73 depending on qualifications and experience.
