Tutors work with students to help them meet their full potential by supporting what they are working on in the classroom and guiding them toward study practices and strategies for them to excel as independent learners.
Principal Responsibilities
Provides individual and small group tutoring for students in specified subject areas.
Follows the Learning Center guidelines, which include employing active learning strategies that promote students to be independent learners.
Works with the diverse student body of Middlesex College.
Participates in ongoing training and professional development.
Supports the daily operations of the Learning Center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of 12 or more college credits
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
A 3.0 (grade of B) or better in courses they wish to tutor
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Supplemental Information
Tutor hourly rates are based on degree level. If a candidate who is a student without a degree is selected for the next stage after an interview, said candidate must also provide a recommendation form from a Professor.
We are currently looking to fill four positions.
Two (2) STEM Tutors for a range of courses
One (1) Writing Center Tutor
One (1) Computer Science Tutor
One (1) Business/Accounting tutor
