Project Manager

Orion Solutions Group is seeking a Project Manager for a growing, non-automotive manufacturing company located in Metro Detroit. This person will oversee multiple purchase orders from customers for projects to ensure timely and budget-conscious completion. Holds overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, unique raw material procurement, external vendors, and contractual deliverables. Also tasked with understanding the existing project schedule, preparing project status reports, and addressing client concerns. Engages in issue resolution, problem research, and provides recommendations for potential product enhancements or modifications.

Responsibilities

• Receives customer requests via phone, cell phone, and email.
• Initiates the fabrication process by generating required paperwork and informing relevant parties.
• Participates in daily scheduling meetings to coordinate efforts among fabrication, logistics, and purchasing personnel.
• Negotiates appropriate ship dates with the customer, Plant Operations Manager, and internal logistics resources.
• Ensures scope control by comparing estimates to actual fabrication.
• Monitors costs by comparing actual costs incurred on releases and for the project to estimated costs.
• Determines the need for Change Order(s), coordinates pricing, and seeks approval from the customer.
• Negotiates with the customer to design product releases that can be efficiently fabricated according to the product Quote.
• Ensures accurate tracking of backlog information in the ERP system.
• Determines and tracks billing amounts for each release and cumulative amounts for the entire project.
  
  

Skills and Experience Required:

• Four to seven years of experience in construction project management
• Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
• Experience with enterprise software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• College degree or equivalent experience
• Experience with HVAC products is a plus
