Clean is quality! Our client, a leader in cleaning product manufacturing, seeks a skilled Quality Manager for their Chicago location. In this role, the QA Manager works and provides guidance to lab, plant and office staff to ensure implementation, integration and adherence of policies and processes with respect to Quality and ensuring compliance to all statutory and company requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
Lab Supervision:
Supervise and manage the workload to address our quality plans for all our customers’ needs, supplier incoming raw materials, and our internal needs.
QA Management:
Maintain an effective Quality Management System following the ISO9000 model. Manage quality/defect issues with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and communications with customer as required, maintain/revise the QA Manual - its policies, procedures and work instructions; equipment maintenance and calibration in lab and plant; perform employee training; perform internal audits; coordinate and follow up on all external 3rd party audits; maintain proper factory hygiene practices, clean in place and sanitization program, pest control program, perform monthly internal housekeeping audits; maintain specification database files for customers through electronic portal access.
Health & Safety:
Co-Chair of the Joint H&S Committee, organize and deliver required training, deliver monthly safety talks, in house enzyme handing expert, manage carbon monoxide/noise/hearing/dust/effluent testing.
System Maintenance:
Maintain Manufacturing and Packaging Directions within the internal information system, enter new products or Bill of Material (BOM) changes into system, write manufacturing and packaging directions for all batch sheet sheets.
Role Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in a quality assurance supervision function, preferably within the household products or personal care products industry.
College or University degree in Chemistry.
A strong individual able to impress the client and their customer’s quality concerns on both plant personnel and plant leadership.
Experience in managing customer audits and an intimate knowledge of ISO or BRC quality models.
Experience leading quality initiatives in a diverse manufacturing environment.
