Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Real Estate Manager, based out of New York City. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to join the team at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of accelerated growth.
The Real Estate Manager will report directly to our COO + President. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience sourcing and executing real estate transactions for a growing retail brand, can thrive in a fast-paced environment, is a fast learner, and loves ice cream!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive an efficient, high quality deal pipeline that achieves Van Leeuwen’s national growth goals, focuses on Van Leeuwen’s target consumer and brand sequencing, and delivers against established financial targets and requirements
Remain current on market conditions in existing and new regions, including economic dynamics, demographics, and the competitive landscape, and changes across each. Develop the ability to forecast sales based on market and site specifics
Responsible for shepherding the real estate process from start to finish, from sourcing and site selection through lease execution, coordinating and collaborating with all parties and stakeholders along the way. The work will encompass new leases, extensions, and other real estate transactions
Maintain overall store pipeline and project timelines and report on progress to Leadership Team on a regular basis
Create and recommend modifications to Real Estate operating policies and procedures
Assist in the management of the company’s network of landlord and broker relationships, as well as other related service providers
Maintain legal work records and files for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation as may be required for future reference
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3-5 years as a Real Estate Manager (or related) in the retail/hospitality environment or at a large restaurant chain company/multi-unit restaurant
Enthusiastic about traveling domestically (and potentially internationally) to explore new markets and potential trade areas for Van Leeuwen
Ability to travel for up to 75% of work schedule
Must have strong, hands-on, operating and deal-making skills
Knowledge of real estate, construction and related terms, timelines, principles, and functions
Ability to minimize risk, strategize, create, and execute growth plans
Experience in negotiating and documenting real estate contracts
Strong sense of teamwork with the ability to foster relationships and gain agreement with timelines and data requirements from both internal and external stakeholders
The ability to adapt according to the market and the continuing innovation at Van Leeuwen
Strong leadership behaviors, approachability, and a reputation as an unwavering role model
Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
Passion for organization and an aptitude for prioritizing multiple project
