Essential Functions
The Records Assistant pulls, sorts, and refiles case files. Pulls mail for Clerk?s departments for Baltimore City Circuit Court. Enters files in File tracking to keep an accurate record of location of file. Assists the public, attorneys, and court personnel at the counter by finding files and providing information. Retrieves, unloads, sorts, and distributes mail.
Education
High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
Experience
Six (6) months of work experience.
Note
A bachelor's degree may substitute the required work experience.
A Paralegal/associate degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
Knowledge of public access rules
Knowledge of case file numeric systems
Knowledge of applicable Court Records, Retention and Storage Manual
Skill in basic math
Skill in using a personal computer
Skill in organization and time management
Ability to set priorities and simultaneously process multiple duties and responsibilities
Ability to learn and apply relevant terminology and procedures to reach a valid conclusion
Ability to read and comprehend
Ability to follow directions Ability to communicate in effective, patient and tactful manner with judges, co-workers, and the public
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Physical Requirements
Medium work . Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
