The Regional Vice President (RVP) will be accountable for the P&L in the territory, developing and executing the business plan and tactics that enable long-term profitable growth within an assigned geography, while also managing the resources and expenses necessary to achieve a profitable outcome.
Reporting directly to the President and a member of the company’s executive leadership team, the RVP will collaborate with internal business partners and Underwriting Director to enable product, pricing, and services to develop this outcome. The RVP will champion a sales culture within the territory. They will collaborate closely with the entire geographic team - underwriters, sales & marketing, claims, loss control.
This position will build and lead the regional team in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Manages book of business and identifies market opportunities by analyzing competitor intelligence, market and industry research, loss ratios, mix of business, policy count, premium growth, hit ratios and business retention.
Lead pipeline meetings with UW Director (utilizing pipeline report).
Lead discussion with Underwriters on travel and agency engagement to achieve the overall plans and objectives of the region. Tracks progress on established UW production scorecards.
Manage book of business and reports on results to President: premium growth, hit ratios and business retention, profit/loss, in Operations meetings and 1:1.
Strategic development of distribution plans and execute accordingly
Aligns business objectives to support company strategic goals. Develops and monitors the overall plans and objectives of the region. Tracks progress on established success metrics.
Partners with Corporate Underwriting staff on product and pricing revisions to drive profitable growth. Collaborates with Underwriting Managers, Production Underwriters and Territory Sales Managers to identify, research, and develop sales opportunities.
Strives to enhance relationships with existing agencies and accounts. Participates in establishing new customer relationships to promote sustained profit and growth of new business. Monitors and maintains service standards on an ongoing basis.
Manages the agency appointment processes to ensure effective partnerships with quality agents. Guides and shapes underwriting quality assurance, price, rate and exposure monitoring, price adequacy and risk selection.
Participants in the company’s annual operating and long-term strategic planning process. Collaborates with the Senior Management Team to evaluate results, reestablish a future vision, and develop strategic plans, actions and success metrics.
Drives expense control and efficiency throughout the regional operations.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their team members.
Leads change by communicating vision and gaining commitment of staff.
Attracts, coaches, and develops talent to ensure a staff capable of carrying out business strategies while creating a dynamic talent pool.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
10 years (plus) of progressive work experience in underwriting and leadership, with a clear track record of success.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful, financially measurable objectives and plans.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a dynamic, results-driven environment
Multi-line commercial lines experience preferred. Experience in both a line and management environment.
Strategic understanding of the changing business environment and how to adapt the company’s approach to achieve success
A broad understanding of the competitive environment for commercial lines
Strong Business and Financial Acumen; Strategic, collaborative, growth oriented
Ability to drive data analytics and make appropriate correlations on results throughout the region
Proven leadership skills including coaching and mentoring, recruiting and staffing, and development
Strong communications skills, both written and oral
Demonstrated experience in successfully managing external relationships

Proven ability to lead teams through change

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
Licenses/Certifications/Designations: Valid driver’s license for travel. Completion of or working toward CIC, AIM, CPCU or similar designation.
