As a full-time, you are eligible for a generous company benefit plan package (medical, dental,

Summary

The Resident Services Coordinator will provide case management services for women and women with

children, including those who are victims of domestic violence in both transitional and permanent

housing setting, in a way that provides exceptional tenant services for residents while achieving

the highest standards compliance.

Description Of Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the policies of the YWCA Central Alabama and support its Mission and Vision.
  • Provide compassionate, empowering assistance to all residents, in a manner that prepares them to

achieve the very best in their tenancy and in their lives both directly through personal

interaction and indirectly through supervised housing staff.

  • Provide full case management and advocacy for transitional housing client caseload located in

the main YWCA Central Alabama building downtown, including but not limited to, referrals to outside

agencies (medical, food stamps, employment, financial, legal, psychiatric and/or others), as may be

needed.

  • Work with transitional residents fleeing domestic violence circumstances in developing a safety

plan or ensuring a safety plan is in place.

  • Offer each transitional housing resident a range of voluntary services that is available to them

that might best serve their particular needs and individual goals.

  • Create and facilitate relevant support groups for transitional housing residents.
  • Provide resource and supportive service assistance to permanent housing clients located in YWCA

Central Alabama housing programs, as may be needed.

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of any tenancy meetings, events and/or functions,

including those involving permanent housing residents.

  • Assist with all audit, funding or educational visits to YWCA Central Alabama through public

speaking and touring of the facilities, as may be required, including representing YWCA Central

Alabama at meetings and community events, as may be requested.

  • Ensure consistency with applicable LIHTC, HUD, DOJ and/or other funding regulations and tenant

compliance from case management intake to move-out, doing so in concert with other Housing Staff,

Counseling staff and with the guidance of the Assistant Director of Housing.

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Building Services and/or designee(s) to ensure

coordination with the Housing Department in providing exceptional property management of the

transitional housing units.

  • Perform unit inspections on a monthly basis and associated administrative duties, as may be

required.

  • Work independently and in coordination with other Housing Office staff to ensure timely and

ongoing statistical information related to the production of required reporting to federal, state,

county and local funding sources including APR reporting and City/County CDBG and ESG sources as

may be needed.

  • Ensure comprehensive and ongoing accurate use of YWCA Central Alabama’s property management

software for all applicable permanent/transitional resident issues related to tenancy and/or

program status in the case of transitional housing.

  • Maintain applicable financial files and records in cooperation with the Chief Financial Officer

to ensure compliance with all agency procedures, programs and/or funding streams.

  • Actively participate in all Housing Department meetings and work collaboratively with other

members of YWCA Central Alabama’s Housing Department in the fulfillment of the department’s

obligations.

  • Provide on-call emergency assistance with unforeseen circumstances associated with tenancy and

housing occurring during off-hours.

  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the Housing Office and

YWCA Central Alabama.

Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field and three (3) years’ experience, providing

direct services. Master’s degree in related area, may substitute for some experience.

  • A passion and a capacity for work that improves opportunities for those in greatest

need.

  • The ability to sensitively work with diverse populations living below, at, or slightly above

poverty.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with adults and children and crisis intervention

experience.

  • Computer skills in word processing and a willingness to adapt to new software, as may be

needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with

colleagues, tenants and the general public.

  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable by the organization’s insurance

company.
