Sales & Business Development Manager - Reusable Surgical Instruments

Job Description

Oversee and manage the business development activities in assigned region for Medline's surgical instrument division. Drive sales activities and financial growth by identifying sales, product development, and marketing opportunities. Define long-term organizational strategic goals, build key customer relationships, negotiate and close business deals. Achieve growth goal through effectively leading the efforts of the responsible sales teams, while driving company strategies for national accounts and contracts.

Major Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for negotiating regional IDN agreements and developing relationships with key decision-makers within Corporate, Supply Chain, Procurement and Value Analysis teams to ensure top-down support for US sales, especially regional key accounts.
  • Grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions, products and services to clients. Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs. Develop and execute sales strategies that drive overall achieve achievement of sales targets.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales. Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met. Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets. Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities to leverage Medline’s unique value proposition to customers
  • Establish and maintain a regular process for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with sales reps and strategic accounts. Work with cross-functional Medline teams to uncover opportunities and achieve growth goals.

Education

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.

Work Experience

  • At least 5 years of sales or marketing in reusable surgical instruments. This includes: Networking, Closing Skills, Motivation for Sales, Prospecting Skills, Sales Planning, Identification of Customer Needs and Challenges, Territory Management, and Market Knowledge.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to execute sales marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Ability to analyze market trends to effectively develop presentations, provide recommendations and business forecasting.
  • Skill and ability presenting to senior management or C-suite with the purpose of influencing company or client decisions. Includes presenting and reporting on project plans and cost benefit analyses to appropriate stakeholders, executives and senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability assessing and initiating actions independently. Experience taking charge of a situation, team or project.
  • Time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Demonstrated ability working with cross-functional teams and facilitating teams to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.
  • Position requires travel up to 75% of the time for business purposes (within state, out of state, international).

Preferred Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • Experience in reusable surgical instruments
  • Experience with product approvals and key accounts, surgeons and hospitals.
