**HYBRID SCHEDULE** Reports to the office less than 3 days a month.
The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include focusing on daily tasks related to administering and accounting for auto loan insurance products. This role will also support general accounting including preparing summary reports, recording journal entries, and preparing account reconciliations related to assigned areas.
What is a day in the life at Flagship as a Senior Accountant?
Direct and manage all facets of accounting operations relating to receivable accounting, and other general accounting areas
Drive update of key accounting estimates including allowance and fair value estimates. Analyze the impact of assumption updates and lead conversation about performance and economic trends that impact the estimates
Drive continuous business process improvements and strategies, and leverage best practices to improve controllership and financial transaction efficiency over closing processes relating to accuracy, timeliness, productivity, and scalability
Responsible for ensuring accounting policies are followed and internal control foundation is maintained
Management of accounting staff to ensure all operational and financial reporting deadlines are met
Review monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and analysis to ensure accurate and complete reporting
Leads ad-hoc projects to improve and automate processes related to receivables, with a focus on strengthening internal control structure, process documentation, and tightening close timeline
Partner with and liaison with other departments on analyzing financial results, problem resolution, and strategic business initiatives
About you:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Required: Working knowledge of US GAAP, or experience 2+ years of bookkeeping and general ledger accounting
Preferred: 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years as a senior accountant, or equivalent level
Prior experience in a consumer finance or auto finance company is a plus
High level of attention to detail
General understanding of general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations
Ability to work with sensitive material
