About The Position

The Senior Associate, Business & Program Development supports the Programmatic Fundraising Team by enabling effective donor growth, cultivation, and stewardship. This position works closely with Business & Program Development and Programmatic Pillar colleagues to support the growth of revenue and to expand the network, reach, resources, and social impact of ongoing work. Milken Institute Program Pillars include Philanthropy, Finance, and Health.

The Senior Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the missions of the Institute’s Philanthropic Pillar by prospecting new funders/partners, leading on supporter outreach and communications, support of strategic work around Milken signature events and the execution of bespoke, impact-driven partner deliverables.

This position will also lead revenue pipeline management, deliverable tracking, and project management on behalf of the Programmatic Fundraising Team. Individuals with a passion for and experience in fundraising, partnerships, events planning and coordination, and project management are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Work in coordination with the Programmatic Fundraising Team MI Philanthropy Lead to manage renewals, pipelines, and account stewardship across the MI Philanthropy portfolio areas including Environmental & Social Innovation, Pathways and SPARC (Science Philanthropy Accelerator for Research and Collaboration)
  • Managing data-entry tasks, including but not limited to CRM management in Salesforce and programming tracking software
  • Be responsible for initial drafting of event and project concept notes and proposals, as well as a fine-tuned eye to edits and formatting for supporter review
  • Liaise with other departments including programming, pillar content leads, and events to ensure planning documents and event management is streamlined
  • Provide project management support and deliverable tracking for Pillar project funding
  • Work with the MI Philanthropy event leads to support logistics and program development for Milken Institute events worldwide where relevant, such as the Future of Health Summit, Global Conference, Philanthropic Investors Forum, Asia Summit, Middle East and Africa Summit, and other key international convenings with supporter presence
  • Support the Business & Program Development, Programmatic Fundraising team in identifying potential attendees and presenters, conducting outreach, developing and reviewing communications and related content, prepping confirmed speakers, and coordinating with the Milken Institute in support of events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, partnership building, project management, and/or wealth management
  • A proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented and enthusiastic professional with prior relevant experience supporting senior managers and proven ability to multi-task while handling complex projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and collaborative working style, alongside a desire to learn, due to the wide-ranging nature of the pillars funders and projects.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and respond promptly to internal and external communications
  • Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions and resolve issues
  • Motivated self-starter and hard worker displaying high productivity and follow-through in all areas of responsibility, as well as a dedication to impeccable supporter care
  • Team-oriented individual who seeks out tasks when work is completed and assists colleagues to ensure goals, requirements, and deadlines are achieved
  • An individual comfortable with delegating tasks and assigning roles and responsibilities to ensure high-quality execution of deliverables
  • An attitude of "no job is too small" and attention to detail that ensures rewarding experiences and outcomes for supporters and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work with people and interact positively with all levels of an organization, including desire and ability to support multiple team members
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to provide on-site support at select events on nights or weekends, as appropriate, on occasion
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Individuals with prior administrative, events, or development experience highly encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); CRM or Salesforce experience a plus

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

This position will work in a professional office environment. This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. International along with domestic travel is possible. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.

This position will work a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week reporting in-person to your respective office location (Tuesday – Thursday), with the remaining two (2) days working remotely. Please understand, this schedule is subject to change in the Institute’s sole discretion.
