The Photo & Text team is focused on creating new ways to consume content within TikTok. Our products encourage more people to participate in the TikTok ecosystem and allow users to enjoy more informative and diverse content. You will be able to design, implement, and ship new product experiences that will deliver fun and joy to millions of TikTok users.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Photo and Text team, you will:
- Work closely with XFN stakeholders to define the roadmap of product and technical innovations
- Work closely with our talented mobile and product team to develop and ship new, innovative user features on TikTok
- Lead the effort to improve system design and architecture to ensure service reliability, performance, and extensibility
- Learn and understand how TikTok products work and help build end-to-end solutions
- Promote robust and maintainable code, clear documentation, and deliver high-quality work in a rapid environment

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, proficient in at least one coding language, including but not limited to Go, Java, Python, C++, Javascript, TypeScript
- Strong understanding of general distributed system concepts
- Ability to understand and debug large and complex codebases
- Good team communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent majors/experience
- 5 years of industry experience in a software development environment
- Experience in large scale user-facing products is a plus

Job Information:

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
