POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Engineering Studies Manager SME will be responsible for overseeing both internal and external consultant engineering services as it relates to project specific civil, electrical, and mechanical designs for our Utility Scale Solar projects. This position will have the opportunity to grow and support the success of the pre-construction team.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ability to review electrical systems analysis, such as arc flash, short circuit, grounding and coordination studies reports.
  • Understand power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution systems.
  • Familiar with utility scale solar project designs including single line drawings, electrical site plans, DC and AC wiring diagrams and equipment layouts
  • Understand the construction applications of solar power plant design, including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking/tracker design and powering
  • Possess a knowledge of electrical and system studies required for plant designs
  • Comfortable traveling cross-country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams
  • Have experience with substation design review and coordination at medium voltages (usually 34.5 kV) to point of interconnect
  • Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems and battery systems
  • Ability to develop, review, and approve engineering scope of work documents

Education And Work Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field or related discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the solar construction industry or direct engineering on solar construction projects
  • Must have great attitude in working with the Moss team
  • Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and methods of construction in power systems
  • Experience with, CDGS, SKM, ETAP or similar software's
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission systems is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) as it relates to utility scale power plants is a plus
  • Good communications and presentation skills including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task multiple projects at once
