Job Description

This role must also be able to leverage resources effectively across the organization, and be able to identify and connect with key stakeholders and subject matter experts as needed to drive projects forward.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed represent the major duties of this role, additional duties may be assigned.

  • Leading projects and key deliverables through all stages of the Venture Design process (framing, discovery, validation and realization). Successfully deliver projects on time and on budget. Activities include collaborating with business partners and design teams, designing and validating desirability/feasibility/viability/product-market fit, innovation prototypes, proof of concepts, minimally viable products (MVPs), and alpha/beta deployments through lean startup/experimentation best practices.
  • Drive cross functional collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization (e.g. legal, procurement, business unit leaders, project managers of connected efforts) at the appropriate times to drive projects through the steps of the venture design process
  • Customer and expert recruitment/scheduling and interfacing with vendors for research and co-creation activities.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring support to employee or BU teams that are participating in innovation learning experiences (HR programs, business innovation projects, etc.)
  • Communicate project progress, innovative concepts and solutions, new products and new revenue opportunities to senior leaders and business partners to drive business decision-making. Ensure all Stage-Gate artefacts are complete. Manage Gate submissions for executive and steering committee review.
  • Knowledge management: organize, document, and create best practices from collected project knowledge to create best practices for the innovation team.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience

6+ years of experience working in, or project managing for, a start up at some point during career is preferred. Other experiences could include human-centered design, innovation methodologies or innovation product development.

Required Education

Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience

Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy that includes a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.

Demonstrated ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design solutions, articulating design rationale both verbally and visually

Demonstrated ability to work in Agile

Experienced in applying human-centered design principles to research, development, design planning, and execution of complex projects through holistic understanding of customer's problem area, iterative solution designs, creative problem solving, stakeholder management, and integration of business & technical experts

Courage to challenge status quo and the interpersonal skills to align teams

Ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate large quantities of information and convert into effective actions and business value

Demonstrate comfort level with engaging multiple and competing perspectives; ability to make decisions with imperfect information, know how to lead without authority and be comfortable managing ambiguity and complexity

Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills

Ability to contribute to driving organizational change

Ability to work with and across various groups and levels of management within the organization

Preferred Education

Master’s degree

General Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.

Annualized Salary Range: $114,200 - $185,500

Typical Annualized Hiring Range: $114,200 - $142,700

Final pay will be determined with consideration of market competitiveness, internal equity, and the job-related knowledge, skills, training, and experience you bring.
