Class Summary
This position will provide comprehensive support services for all students enrolled in corequisite Math courses, working closely with College of the Mainland students and faculty to increase success rates in these courses and support students throughout their academic journey. Responsibilities include tracking student success metrics such as retention and completion rates, offering personalized academic coaching, and connecting with students close to completion to determine what supports each student needs to succeed. The Coach will participate in College committees and collaborate with advising personnel, tutoring staff, and Math faculty to create a supportive environment that enhances student engagement and persistence.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; prior experience with career development, academic coaching, academic advising, or other roles/duties in support of student performance and success; understanding and/or experience with diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Education/Training/Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field; 2 years of experience with career development, academic advising, or academic coaching in higher education. Spanish speaker preferred.

Positions in this class typically require stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
The position requires lifting 10-15 pounds, the ability to push a cart and assist with event set-up.
Minimum Salary Range $47,781
Mid Point Salary Range .
Maximum Salary Range $59,726

- Experience working with diverse groups.
- Knowledge of theories and best practices regarding the academic development of students.
- Prior experience in planning and implementation of complex projects.
- Working knowledge of student management systems, such as Colleague, Navigate, Zogotech, etc.
- Knowledge of grant rules and regulations.
- General knowledge of college programs, requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Strong planning, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse staff and populations and a variety of educational personnel and community audiences.
- Possess strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Proficient with computer applications; a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, follow-through and persistence working with students, faculty and staff, administration, and the community.

Job Duties
- Work specifically with Math corequisite students to provide support services aimed at increasing success rates in corequisite Math courses. Offer targeted support to help students navigate challenging academic requirements.
- Conduct personalized one-on-one coaching sessions with students to develop a customized approach to studying. Topics may include organization, time management, stress management, note-taking strategies, goal setting, and test-taking skills.
- Monitor and track student progress in corequisite Math courses. Offer assistance and resources to students experiencing academic challenges. Work closely with faculty to address Early Alerts and attendance issues for these students.
- Assist in planning engagement opportunities (e.g., guest speakers, symposia) and academic support programming.
- Establish a strong connection between students and the institution to foster commitment, retention, and persistence. Encourage active engagement in college activities and initiatives.
- Engage in proactive communication with students to build and nurture relationships that enhance their retention and persistence outcomes.
- Monitor individual student progress towards graduation, including making course recommendations and generating completion plans for students nearing degree attainment.
- Assist with workshops and information sessions to educate students about transfer and reverse transfer opportunities, graduation, and transfer requirements.
- Compile, maintain and share up-to-date knowledge of Math academic best practices.
- Analyze and evaluate program effectiveness. Assist with implementing ongoing formative and summative evaluation, data reporting and analytics, and monitoring outcomes for continuous improvement. Assist external evaluator, as required.
- Travel in support of job duties as needed.
- Other program duties as assigned.
