Essential Job Functions

The Treasury Manager will support the management of various aspects of the Firm’s Treasury, Partner Accounting, and Cash Management activities, including a wide array of operations-centric activities, high-visibility services to the Firm’s partners, and managing the relationships with the Firm’s banks. Additional responsibilities include the development, training and mentoring of Treasury talent to ensure the highest standards are continuously maintained. The Treasury Manager supports the Treasurer and the Associate Director, Treasury in the management of the Firm’s Treasury function and compliance with all Treasury and Firm policies with a focus on accuracy, efficiency and superior client service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.)

Cash Management

  • Oversees preparation of daily cash position reporting and makes recommendations as to borrowing/investing activity to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Risk mitigation – identifying, suggesting, and implementing effective internal controls.
  • Manages the Firm’s derivatives programs and analyzes, suggests, and implements modifications based on the Firm’s risk profile, macroeconomic forces, etc.
  • Maintains and coordinates bank documentation.

Credit Agreement and Tenant Improvement (TI) Lease Administration

  • Develop expertise level knowledge and interpretation of the Firm’s credit agreement and TI lease terms and conditions.
  • Assist in preparation of the Firm’s annual bank rating materials.
  • Oversees preparation of monthly/quarterly bank and TI lease compliance reports.
  • Manages risk with regard to compliance with affirmative and negative covenants, events of default and unmatured events of default, proposes curing remedies.

Property and Casualty and Workers’ Compensation Insurance Administration

  • Manage annual renewal applications & NDAs.
  • Collaborate with our brokers at AON to develop renewal proposal, identifying and addressing gaps in coverages, indexing for growth, etc., to ensure adequate coverages and risk mitigation.
  • Present annual proposal to Finance Committee chairs, Office of General Counsel, and CFO for approvals.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely distribution of COIs.
  • Administration of claims activity and open items throughout the year
  • Propose and bind bespoke policies throughout the year for build-outs/expansion as needed, e.g., stand-alone builder’s risk policies

Partner Financial Services

  • Presents/clarifies financial components/considerations regarding partner compensation.
  • Oversees preparation of partner distribution allocations
  • Computes/adjusts cash earnings and cash flow projections.
  • Administers and tracks individual and bespoke compensation arrangements.

Partner Capital

  • Manages administration of the Firm’s Capital Loan and Cash Flow Loan programs across the banks comprising our banking syndicate, e.g., Recognition Agreements, upsizing.
  • Oversees various entity capital pay-in requirements, tracking joiners/leavers, distribution of capital, etc.

Other

  • Actively contributes to Firmwide system and process re-engineering efforts, such as integrating aspects of PeopleSoft payroll, coordinating the timing of specific activities with the Investment Partnership department, and implementing improvements for managing the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation’s books and records.
  • Prepares ad hoc reporting to support Treasury/Partner Financial Services/Kirkland Foundation projects and initiatives.
  • Supports Firm and Finance management special projects and /initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance; strong accounting, analytical, and research skills are required. A CPA, MBA and/or CTP is desirable.
  • At least 8 years of experience in roles which demonstrate progressive responsibility within the accounting or finance department of an international professional services partnership, preferably a law firm.
  • The candidate must also have experience with forecasting, cash and tax basis accounting and a track record of implementing system and procedural improvements.
  • The individual must excel working in a team setting and be an effective communicator who listens carefully, articulates his/her positions clearly, and conveys confidence. Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
  • The ability to collaborate and effectively facilitate information sharing within Finance and other functions within the Firm to meet sensitive tax filing deadlines through the year is required.
  • The candidate will be adept at developing effective business relationships with colleagues both within and outside of the Finance department.

Technologies/Software

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Familiarity with Elite 3E a plus

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
