Our client is a well established MGA who is looking for their next Underwriting Manager, who will be managing a book of business as well as managing an UW staff.
Main Responsibilities
Develops and executes strategic initiatives that support profit, growth, retention and customer service objectives;
Coordinating or determining the tasks of underwriters, underwriting assistants and/or technical assistants who work as part of the underwriting team
Actively underwrite new and renewal business alongside their team
Provides assistance in underwriting of difficult, complex accounts
Manages their assigned underwriting territory. Responsible for overall production, profitability and relationships with agents within their territory;
Provide support to ensure accurate and timely servicing of accounts;
Assesses agency performance and recommends the appointment or cancellation of agents within the territory;
Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues;
Coordinates with Marketing to plans regular agency contact and visits to agents;
Determine and lead delivery of training and development based on individual and unit needs – Coaches, develops and provides feedback to associates;
Work with Marketing to monitor, track and analyze the effectiveness of agency partnerships to support course corrections and decision making;
Conduct performance reviews on staff;
Reporting to upper management about team performance so far, as well as any issues that have occurred and proposals to resolve those issues
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Minimum of 3 years of agency management experience;
