Are you an outstanding college student with a passion for global health and social impact? Are you interested in using your voice — both online and offline — to spread awareness about malaria and other global health issues? Are you interested in representing a campaign of the United Nations Foundation? If so, we invite you to apply to the United to Beat Malaria College Ambassador Program for the 2024-2025 school year.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday July 31, 2024. APPLY HERE: https://bit.ly/2024-CA-Application

What is the College Ambassador Program?

United to Beat Malaria (Beat Malaria) engages and activates college students through our College Ambassador Program. Beat Malaria College Ambassadors will use their influence on Instagram* to contribute to a vitally important cause, bringing awareness to the ongoing battle to end malaria and calling attention to global health issues overall

*As this is a social media-first program, we expect College Ambassadors to share malaria-related content on Instagram primarily and have a public Instagram account. College Ambassadors can also post malaria-related content on LinkedIn and TikTok; but these are considered secondary posting platforms.

What will you do as a College Ambassador?

College Ambassadors (CAs) will be expected to share at least one Instagram post monthly about malaria and at least one* collaborative post with another CA per semester. These posts may include educational, entertainment, or call to action content, highlighting key Beat Malaria moments like World Malaria Day, our annual Leadership Summit, International Day of Social Justice, and more. CAs will also be expected to host one campus event* to increase awareness about Beat Malaria.

In addition, we expect CAs to attend a virtual advocacy day in September. Pending the completion of a September advocacy meeting, CAs will receive priority consideration for our three-day annual Leadership Summit in March in Washington, D.C., with travel and lodging stipends provided by our campaign. Further, we expect CAs to work towards recruiting other students to participate in our Leadership Summit and join CAs in taking digital advocacy actions throughout the year.

*During especially important moments like World Malaria Day (April 25) and the Leadership Summit (March 2025), we will require CAs to post more than once (but no more than four times in a month)

*Some examples of campus events: a fundraising event, a phone banking event in which students call their members of Congress, a tabling event in a high-traffic area, and more!

Requirements:

Prospective College Ambassadors must:

  • Have a minimum Instagram following of 1,000
  • Create Beat Malaria-related content on Instagram at least once a month (content guidance will be provided)
  • Join a virtual advocacy day, in which Beat Malaria advocates meet virtually with their Congressional offices, in September
  • Host one event on campus to raise awareness and/or funds for United to Beat Malaria
  • Be passionate about global health and social impact

We want to make this a fun, empowering experience for students. Throughout the program, CAs will have access to resources (such as content guidance, opportunities to attend UN and UN Foundation events, and more) and support from the Beat Malaria team. There will also be opportunities for CAs to meet virtually throughout the year to help build their networks.
