Vice President and General Manager Woodstock Farms

PURPOSE:

Woodstock Farms is a leading Custom Snacks business unit within UNFI. The Vice President, General Manager of Woodstock Farms is responsible for establishing and executing Woodstock Farms' long-term strategies and annual business plans, goals, and objectives, inclusive of managing the Woodstock Farms Business P&L (~$100M in annual sales). This role provides leadership, strategic direction and execution of responsibilities focused on growing sales and profitability, optimizing procurement strategies, and ensuring high standards of quality products through efficient manufacturing operations and internal controls. Oversees the company’s operations to ensure quality, efficiency, service, and cost-effective management of resources. Leads team and coordinates major activities through a highly engaged, cross-functional operating team, while also partnering closely with UNFI’s Wholesale and Brands+ Teams.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver Annual Business Plan and Goals:

  • Responsible for leading the annual business plan for the Woodstock Farms business including annual customer/sales plan, innovation pipeline, procurement and manufacturing operations plans and goals. Works collaboratively across Brands+ and UNFI on shared customer, sourcing and supply opportunities.
  • Actively manages performance against goals and financial commitments to ensure delivery against both revenue and profit objectives; recommends and actions course corrective plans based on goal delivery and customer/market conditions.
  • Partners with the sales organization to ensure strong, strategic customer growth and innovation plans are in place through trusting relationships. Partners with Procurement to ensure winning and cost effectives sourcing and commodities management strategies are instilled. Partners with Operations and Food Safety/quality to ensure efficient operating plans, capabilities and controls are in place to deliver annual financial, operations, safety, and quality goals.

Leads Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, ensuring strong Food Safety and Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for leading the overall manufacturing operations of Woodstock Farms inclusive of production, staffing, maintenance, procurement, safety, and quality (plans, capabilities and KPIs).
  • Monitor operational and customer service key indicators to ensure goals are delivered and strong overall customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that required programs are implemented to monitor compliance with applicable federal and state health and safety laws.
  • Ensure offices and warehouses provide a safe work environment for all associates.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement capital plans and continuous improvement programs to continuously improve overall operational performance against KPIs.

Develops and Leads a Highly Engaged Team

  • Recruit, retain, coach, and develop focused, goal-orientated leadership and management team members.
  • Leads a robust people strategy and plan including effective goal setting, performance reviews, development and capability building plans and succession plans for the long-term growth and success of team-mates and the business.
  • Provide a model of supportive and participatory leadership promoting the concepts of empowerment, leadership and team building both within Woodstock Farms and across UNFI.
  • Builds and consistently fosters a strong relationship with the Union.

Strategic Oversight

  • Develops a strategic multi-year plan to advance Woodstock Farms mission and objectives and to promote accelerated revenue and profit growth as an organization inclusive of product portfolio and customer growth opportunities, operations, and manufacturing recommendations.
  • Provides strategic oversight and recommendations for innovation (keeping current on industry trends), operations and manufacturing, inclusive of capital investment recommendations, ROI analysis, union strategies and site recommendations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business, management, sales, marketing, or related fields of experience.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of demonstrated leadership and strategic planning experience in retail, wholesale, distribution food industry with sales, marketing, and operations / manufacturing experience.
  • Holistic experience leading an end-to-end business and cross functional team of senior operating leaders.
  • A proven track record of delivering results through successfully leading and managing a collaborative, mission-driven organization.


Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Strong financial acumen and demonstrated P&L management experience.
  • Ability to think strategically, understand industry trends and dynamics, and develop long term and annual plans that drive both sales and profit growth through efficient, effective manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to problem solve/troubleshoot operational, sales, staff, or customer issues.
  • Experience working with and partnering with Unions.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a strong leadership and cross functional team, focus on engagement and capability building.


PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:

  • Some travel may be required.
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

Pay Range

$160400.00 - $259500.00 Annually ($77.12 - $124.76 Hourly)
