Our client seeks a dynamic, world-class remote-based sales leader to develop and implement a highly effective global sales strategy for the organization. The Vice President of Global Sales will lead The Company’s global sales organization and will play a key role in developing and executing our global sales strategy for our electronic genome mapping (EGM) instrument platform, which includes hardware, consumables, and software products. This key leader will also build The Company’s global sales channel, which includes distribution, and will manage the US and EU direct instrument sales, account management, inside sales, and technical sales teams. Core Responsibilities
As part of the commercial leadership team, you are responsible for the global sales strategy that includes ownership of a US and EU direct sales team.
Develop a conceptual framework for the sales organization and approach to selling that demonstrates the commercial viability of the platform and its ability to increase market share.
Establish and monitor KPIs that track sales strategy effectiveness.
Oversee and utilize our CRM and provide routine reports.
Identify and establish distribution opportunities.
Lead the relationship with senior-level customers and be the recognized source of expertise in customer relationships. Understand all aspects of the customers' needs.
Drive quality and effectiveness in The Company's sales channels and provide strategic and analytical direction to the commercial team.
Demonstrate excellence in the scaling of the inside sales and account management functions in line with The Company’s instrument sales ramp up.
Formalize sales training and our technical sales support group.
Create, manage, track, and approve incentive plans for the sales team.
Assist and solve problems with the team on day-to-day issues.
Coach, mentor, and motivate all members of the commercial team.
Present at both internal and external meetings and conferences.
Routinely present updates to the executive team and board of directors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required with 15+ years of hands-on experience in direct sales and/or business development in the life science industry. Success in building sales organizations from the ground up.
Experience establishing and managing international distribution agreements.
Experience building sales incentive plans.
Experience developing sales training to grow and develop a particular sales strategy.
5+ years working as a global sales leader or sales executive in the genomics tools space.
Knowledge in the use of genomic sequencing technologies.
Experience selling life science tools or complex capital equipment in the life science/biotech industry.
Exposure to selling software into bioinformatics departments.
Exposure to long-read NGS, FISH, microarray, karyotyping, and/or genome mapping is a plus.
Experience selling to customers in laboratory-developed tests and CLIA environments is a plus.
