Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been retained to conduct a search for a highly accomplished and motivated Vice President of Programs on behalf of our exceptional client, an organization that since 1987 has served as one of Californias most effective and innovative nonprofits devoted to ending the cycle of homelessness in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. This full-time, hybrid opportunity operates out of the corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Programs will drive the organizations strategic goals and further the mission of providing comprehensive support and services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The right individual for this role will make a significant impact on the lives of those they serve by overseeing a dedicated team of professionals. Expertise in the housing, homelessness, and social services fields will be pivotal in shaping programs and services to engender the best possible outcomes for their clients.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Create and implement long-term programmatic initiatives that align with the agency's vision, mission, strategy and overall objectives in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure the agency's strategic goals are achieved.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the agency's Director of Housing, Director of Outreach Community Engagement Services, Directors of Residential Services, Director of Supportive Services and the Quality Assurance Manager to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and policy changes related to housing, homelessness, and social services to inform strategic decision-making.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

  • Mentor, guide, and provide professional development opportunities to individuals under direct supervision.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the program leadership.

PROGRAM EVALUATION AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

  • Partner with the Impact and Learning department to establish and maintain a comprehensive program evaluation framework that assesses the effectiveness and impact of the organizations programs and services.
  • Collaborate with program leadership leads across all sites and services to gather feedback and incorporate it into program improvements.
  • Offer guidance and support to the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, implementing quality assurance measures to guarantee the highest level of service delivery.
  • Work with the Vice President of Compliance and Reporting to ensure accurate and timely public contract management and fulfilling specific contracted milestones.

COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP BUILDING

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community partners, funders, and other nonprofits.
  • Participate in collaborative initiatives and coalitions aimed at addressing homelessness and housing issues in the region.
  • Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and public speaking engagements to enhance the agency's visibility and influence in the sector.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in the housing, homelessness, and/or social services fields.
  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, public administration, nonprofit management) is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Proven track record of driving outcomes and achieving strategic goals in a nonprofit or similar organization.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of homeless services and housing programs, including best practices and current trends in the field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team of professionals.
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively while also being detail-oriented and organized.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Familiarity with government funding sources and grant management.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization and a passion for serving unhoused individuals and families in Northern California.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
