Vice President, Strategic Purchasing

The VP, Strategic Purchasing will be responsible for leading and overseeing all Strategic Purchasing activities including definition of overall commodity strategy, supplier consolidation & development efforts, and supplier performance.


Summary of Duties:

• Owns, develops and drives a purchasing strategy that maximizes value to the company by leading the Purchasing team's efforts to deliver parts and services that efficiently support on-going production requirements and aftermarket programs.

• Collaborates with Executive and Senior leadership within the team to ensure companywide initiatives and business objectives are met.

• Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching and developmental goals.

• Ensures all objectives for all departmental personnel are established and provides development and mentorship to team members in commodity management and supplier development.

• Contributes to, and provides support of, proposal development, strategic planning and budgeting.

• Provides leadership to cross-functional project teams including functional areas within the company as well as external customer and vendor team members.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related business or engineering discipline

Experience: Minimum 12 years' experience in supply chain within a complex multinational manufacturing organization. Minimum of 12 years' people management experience within a closely related business function. Significant prior experience driving SIOP or S&OP across multiple sites and business units


Knowledge & Skills:

• Proven Change Management experience

• Negotiation skills and capability to adapt

• Solid understanding of ERP system principles

• Proven management skills including displayed leadership of high-performing team.

• Strong coaching, mentoring and overall employee development skills.

• Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.

• Ability to build effective working relationships, persuade and influence, and problem-solve complex issues.

• Strong communication, time-management, and organizational skills.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.

• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

• Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management or project teams.

• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

• Demonstrated experience with Accounting software, Database software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software, and Internet knowledge.


Additional Preferred Qualifications/Skills: (not required)

• MBA or Master's Engineering/Supply Chain

• Aerospace mergers and acquisitions experience

• CPIM and/or APICs

• Demonstrated knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or TQM

• Understanding of aerospace interior systems and their interface
