Job Overview:


The Vice President of Total Rewards provides strategic and operational leadership for executive and broad-based compensation, benefits and recognition programs worldwide. The VP is the creative thought leader who brings contemporary ideas and innovative approaches with the capacity to drive enterprise-wide understanding and engagement in the global Total Rewards philosophy and programs.


The Vice President Total Rewards is a member of the People Leadership Team and operates at a strategic level in collaboration with senior executives and at a tactical execution-oriented level to ensure successful program implementation.


This Vice President leads all facets of total rewards including general compensation, executive compensation, international compensation, sales/incentive compensation, equity programs, US and international benefit design and management, vendor selection and management, and communication programs supporting 1,500 global employee base and growing.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes the global Total Rewards strategy in conjunction with the SVP, Chief People Officer.
  • Partners across the People Team with functional leaders, People Business Partners and other key stakeholders to identify Total Rewards opportunities.
  • Ensures that compensation and benefits programs are fair, motivating, aligned with performance and leveraged effectively to enhance the employee experience.
  • Serves as a thought leader in the Total Rewards area, proposing contemporary design ideas and providing consultative guidance to executive business leaders.
  • Directs the design, implementation and maintenance of a competitive base compensation structure and analyzes pay practices to ensure equity and fairness.
  • Prepares materials for the CPO and Board Compensation Committee as the internal expert on executive compensation matters, staying apprised of relevant trends.
  • Ensures incentive program designs are aligned with a pay-for-performance philosophy and administered flawlessly.
  • Directs the development of training and communication programs to ensure the management team understands the organization's pay-for-performance philosophy and colleagues understand how they are compensated.
  • Creates processes to ensure that annual compensation and benefits spending is within budget.
  • Ensures benefit programs are contemporary in their design, attractive to and valued by colleagues, cost effective, communicated effectively and compliant with all applicable regulations.
  • Drives the adoption of a global benefits philosophy that effectively balances key principles with local customs, talent market competitiveness and costs in local markets.
  • Leads due diligence efforts related to compensation & benefits.
  • Leads harmonization efforts of legacy and newly acquired company’s compensation and benefits programs.
  • Develops and maintains effective resources and methods to evaluate and manage the Total Rewards strategy.
  • Drives operational efficiency within Total Rewards, maximizing technology to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensures that Service Level Agreements are established for major processes and holds the team accountable to a high standard of delivery.
  • Cultivates and nurtures a high performing, highly engaged team of Total Rewards professionals, developing talent and creating a reliable succession plan for the group.


Required Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of experience in Compensation and Benefits
  • Executive compensation experience (Private Equity or Public)
  • International compensation experience (eastern and western Europe, India, Asia)
  • Progressive leadership and management experience in Total Rewards design.
  • In-depth knowledge of the benefits marketplace including differences between insurers, marketplace trends, benchmarking and changes in the legislative framework affecting benefits.
  • Current knowledge of related government rules and regulations, including, but not limited to ERISA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADAA, COBRA, OSHA, HIPAA, Workers' Compensation, and other applicable Labor and/or Tax laws and regulations.
  • Very strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modeling.
  • Outstanding technical, managerial, and team building skills with the ability to balance tactical and strategic responsibilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills, including the ability to prepare and present materials for audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in People systems and programs.
  • Highly developed quantitative analysis skills with superior business acumen.
  • Workday design/implementation experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or similar relevant discipline.


Salary range for this position is 180K - 230K
