The Department of Music at Simpson College seeks an accomplished teacher of voice to teach studio voice, Diction, Vocal Pedagogy, and coordinate departmental recruitment to begin in August 2024. We seek a dynamic teacher fully engaged in the field who is demonstrably knowledgeable of vocal pedagogy, diction, literature, and performance and who will contribute to the department’s offerings in solo, choral, and operatic performance for undergraduates.

As Coordinator of Departmental Recruiting, the successful candidate will promote the full scope of the music program with clarity, creativity, and enthusiasm. The candidate will possess the organizational, networking, communication, and collaborative skills necessary to raise the profile of the department and to coordinate a team-based recruitment effort between Admissions and the Department of Music.

One-year appointment, renewable contingent on funding.

The Simpson College Department of Music has a full accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music since 1946. Its program has long been recognized for its excellence and production quality, with many graduates performing professionally both nationally and internationally. It confers the Bachelor of Music degree in Performance and Music Education and the Bachelor of Arts in Music.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in voice (or ABD) and/or commensurate professional experience.
  • Demonstrated success as a teacher of voice.
  • Soprano or mezzo-soprano preferred, other voice types considered.
  • Recruiting and/or administrative experience is advantageous.
