Description

Our client - an NYC-based, award-winning healthcare advertising agency - is seeking a savvy VP or SVP medical director with healthcare advertising experience to lead the medical strategy group in its NYC office. We provide our global roster of clients with multichannel capabilities, including payer strategy and marketing, professional education, scientific services, strategic planning, and media services.

Day to day, this individual will have responsibility for managing a team of medical and scientific medical strategists, collaborate with other senior strategy leaders to evolve our integrated strategic offerings and infuse a spirit of scientific curiosity in each employee. This individual will also have direct client responsibilities, working with team members to identify opportunities for and deliver on exceptional client experiences. Lastly this individual will assume responsibility for a company-wide initiative aimed at deepening the scientific acumen across all departments.


In healthcare advertising, the role of the Medical Director is to serve as a scientific steward for the brand by creating and developing high-quality scientific initiatives across multiple therapeutic areas. Medical Directors are involved in all brand planning for assigned accounts, and guide brand teams by enhancing their clinical knowledge and understanding of the product and therapeutic area, while also identifying medical opportunities that contribute to strategic and tactical development. Our Medical Directors have a passion for and understanding of both science and the strategy. Their specific duties include conducting medical 101 sessions for staff, supporting the development of clinical/scientific subject matter that aligns with good medical practice, is audience appropriate and meet brand objectives,promoting and maintaining scientific rigor in all agency products, collaborating with internal colleagues (ie, strategic planning, account, creative), contribute to organic and new business growth by distilling medical and scientific information into strategic and actionable insights for the brand

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PharmD, PhD or MD)
  • Five or more years of experience working for an advertising (desired) or medical education agency. Client experience a plus.
  • Exudes a scientific curiosity to go beyond the obvious and a willingness to train others to have the same
  • Experience managing and mentoring colleagues
  • Desire to partner with other senior leaders to move the agency forward
  • Is a role model for their ability to present clinical data in a clear, concise, storytelling manner
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • Ability to participate and interact effectively on a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of marketing principles
  • Establish rapport with clients
