Welding Engineer

Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Senior Weld Engineer Job LaPorte, IN for our client, a growing leader in the aerospace industry. This is a newly created, hands-on position for this global aerospace manufacturer, working in a state-of-the-art investment casting facility. Candidates must have production experience in TIG welding and oversight and training of TIG welders. The Senior Weld Engineer will be responsible for improvements and control of weld repair/fabrication of super alloy castings as well as ensuring all welds meet Class “A” requirements. The Senior Weld Engineer will do all training and development of production welders using GTAW/TIG welding. Our client offers a competitive salary of $85,000 - $105,000 based on experience level, excellent benefits that start on day one, and an annual bonus. Some travel is required to other company sites in Canada and the USA locations. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities for the Senior Weld Engineer job in La Porte, IN include:

• Trains and develops new production welders.
• Monitors workmanship and continuous training of current welders.
• Certifies new welders and recertify current welders biannually.
• Maintains Nadcap certification.
• Plans and executes repairs on potentially scrap castings.
• Monitors weld quality yields.
• Develops new welding techniques and equipment improvements for production applications.
• Maintains weld wire and weld cap control and inventory.
• Maintains and writes work instructions.
• Performs Customer specification and blueprint reviews.
• Maintains welder stamp control.
• Maintains personal welder certification.
• Manages methods improvement.
• Cost estimating, scrap, and rework costs oversight and documentation.
• Provides technical support to the shop floor.
• Serves as the technical liaison with customers and other company plants.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 4 years' experience welding of nickel-based alloys through education and/or hands on manufacturing environment required.
• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in weld engineering strongly preferred.
• Investment casting experience or similar type of manufacturing facilities qualifying new programs; significant experience in investment castings (engineering and/or manufacturing) strongly preferred.
• Able to travel to other plant locations (less than 25%)
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
