YOUTH & FAMILY DIRECTOR

Position Summary

The Youth & Family Director at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. The incumbent oversees and manages our youth, adult and family programming as well as special events. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; required.
• Minimum age of 21; required.
• Two or more years of program management experience; required.
• CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required within 30 days of employment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  
  

Essential Functions

• Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct assigned staff and volunteers. Evaluate staff performance and develop strategies to keep staff motivated.
• Oversee the Sports & Camp Manager and Activities Coordinator.
• Oversee, manage and implement special events, community outreach, birthday parties, senior projects, karate and SAT Programs, Youth & Government, KidQuarium.
• Manage Summer Camp program. Responsible for planning, developing and supervising camp programs, ensuring appropriate staffing levels while meeting enrollment and revenue goals.
• Ensure the health and safety of all children in the youth & family programs at all times; implement emergency procedures as necessary.
• Coordinate facility usage for program activities and events and maintain up-to-date facility schedules. Transport and set-up equipment for programs, games & practices.
• Maintain program areas in regards to equipment, safety, inventory and cleanliness.
• Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
• Organize and conduct clinics and special community events.
• Establish collaborative relationships with community organizations to create partnerships throughout Butler County.
• Actively participate in YMCA events and activities and adhere to the YMCA Core Values.
• Monitor and evaluate program statistics for their effectiveness and program participation.
• Maintain up-to-date participant, volunteer and program records.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
