Course introduction

Well, hello there, Cybrary friends, and welcome to the HCISPP certification course brought to you by Cybrary. My name is Schlaine Hutchins and my pronouns are she and her and I will be your instructor for this course. This course was created to support you in preparation for the HCISPP certification exam. So think of it as another tool to have in your toolbox. This is also a great course for those who are in the capacity of a privacy officer, a compliance officer, a security officer, or for those who would just like to know more about how information security plays a role in the healthcare industry. A little bit about my background. I am currently the director of Information Security and Information Security officer for a healthcare technology organization. I'm responsible for setting the strategy and leading the governance risk and compliance teams for the organization. I have over 20 years of experience in IT with 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry. I am an avid Marvel movies fan and also a licensed Zumba fitness instructor. In this course, you'll gain a better understanding of the healthcare industry, the regulatory requirements and the regulations that are key and why privacy and security is important in security of the healthcare information. You'll also be better prepared to pass that HCISPP certification exam. I'm excited for you to take this course and to be a part of your journey in becoming the next HCISPP professional. Let's get started. Hello and welcome to the HCISPP certification course with Cybrary. Before we begin, you should have a basic understanding of information security. Knowledge of audit and/or compliance, and a firm understanding of basic risk management practices. They will support you in understanding the materials and concepts that will be discussed during this course. Some materials that will support you with your study for the certification. Along with this course are the glossary of terms, the exam outline, the official HCISPP flash cards and the official guide to the HCISPP common body of knowledge. The HCISPP has been named one of the best certifications in healthcare. Some of the benefits include career advancement, increase visibility and credibility, improve job security and new job opportunities, respect within the industry and an ability to differentiate yourself amongst your peers, clients and employers. With this certification, you will gain a solid foundation and be better prepared to stem cyber attacks and inspire a safe and secure cyber world in light of the current pandemic situation. It is my opinion that this is one of the certifications that may see an increase in demand. The objectives of this course are to give you a better understanding of the healthcare industry. You'll gain an understanding of governance in healthcare, the impacts of information technologies within healthcare. You'll be able to identify and recognize regulatory requirements and standards and get a basic understanding of privacy and security in healthcare. You'll learn about risk management and risk assessment and understand the impact of third party risk management within the healthcare industry. Requirements for certification include two years cumulative paid work experience in one or more of the seven domains, with one year being in the healthcare industry. You may substitute legal experience for compliance experience, and you may also substitute information management experience for privacy experience. If you do not have the required experience, you may become an associate of (ISC)² after successfully passing the exam. You will then have three years to earn the experience needed for certification. The exam consists of 125 questions and you'll have three hours to complete it. You must achieve a score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. Thank you for joining me.
