Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom. This day is both a celebration of freedom and a reminder of the continuous journey toward equality and justice. Our 1upHealth #BIPOC ERG has compiled a list of resources to deepen our understanding of Juneteenth and its significance. Let's honor this day by learning, reflecting, and working towards a more interoperable and accessible future. #Juneteenth #BIPOC #1upHealth

As we observe Black History Month, it's essential to address a stark reality for this community: Approximately 53% of Black children in the U.S. are likely to encounter a CPS investigation by the age of 18, a rate nearly double that for White children. This statistic is a sobering reminder of the inequalities faced by Black families. At PCA America, we embrace and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African Americans, particularly in the arts, as highlighted in this year's theme. However, we also recognize the urgent need for equitable treatment and support for all families. This month, let's commit to creating a world where every child, irrespective of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #ArtForChange #EquityForAll

Juneteenth, also known as “Freedom Day” and “Emancipation Day,” is a significant day in our history. It is a blend of the words “June” and “nineteenth,” and it commemorates an event that took place on June 19, 1865. On that day, the last of the enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, received news of their newfound freedom and rights under the Emancipation Proclamation, which was issued two-and-a-half years earlier. Juneteenth is not only a day of celebration but also a time for reflection and education. It reminds us of the importance of freedom, equality, and justice for all. It is an opportunity for us to honor the resilience and contributions of Black Americans in our society today and throughout history. In recognizing Juneteenth, we reflect on our shared values and commit to fostering a culture of respect, understanding, and support for one another. It’s Black History Month. 🙌🏾 A time to celebrate and honor the contributions, achievements, and voices of Black people. But the celebration of Black History Month and the successes and #perseverance of Black people cannot be addressed without acknowledging the deep disparities, inequities, and systems of power that Black people have to continuously overcome. As an organization that’s committed to advancing health #equity, we understand it is vital to examine the complex interactions between people and their environments if we’re to be a part of the fight for a more equitable future. Throughout Black History Month, week by week, we will amplify Black voices, #innovations, resources, and issues that disproportionately impact Black communities and the contributions ETR is making to address Black health equity in and outside the organization. #HealthEquity #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHealth #BHM #BHM2024 #BlackHealthMatters #BlackHistory

During Black History Month, Alice Walker's quote takes on added significance as it reflects the historical and ongoing struggle for empowerment within the Black community. Throughout history, Black individuals and communities have faced systemic oppression, discrimination, and disenfranchisement. Despite these challenges, countless individuals have demonstrated remarkable resilience and strength in asserting their rights and fighting for equality. Alice Walker's quote reminds us of the importance of reframing narratives to center empowerment and agency. By acknowledging and celebrating the power within the Black community, we can inspire hope, resilience, and collective action towards a more just and equitable society. #BlackHistoryMonth is not only a time for reflection and celebration but also a call to action. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial justice and the need to address systemic inequities that persist today. By amplifying voices, advocating for change, and supporting efforts towards equality, we can honor the legacy of past struggles and work towards a more inclusive future. #BlackHistory
