After 14 years in Jenbach, today is my last working day at INNIO Group.
Many ask me why I am leaving and how I am feeling - there are too many layers to both questions to give you a straight answer.
I prefer to reflect on the following question: why did I stay so long in this place? After having been a global nomad all my life, starting with my family's 1st expatriation at the age of 9, then hopping from country to country every few years (Turkey, Algeria, USA, UK, Spain...), why did I suddenly choose to spend a decade and a half in Austria, with this employer? Here are some of the ingredients which make this place special:
🌍 Purposeful tasks and a sense of entrepreneurship. At INNIO you can truly express your accountability for an area and unfold its full potential. When it comes to our Procurement team, I'm particularly proud of what we have done in terms of #procurementsustainability, going way beyond what regulations demand... and hopefully getting close to what our planet requires.
☝ A place to learn 🎓 and grow 📈. While I was here, the Jenbacher brand and business were constantly changing and growing, and I was given opportunities to do the same. My first role was Master Black Belt while the business still belonged to GE... I now take my leave as VP Procurement of the INNIO Group, a company which has matured significantly under the auspicious stewardship of its main shareholder Advent International.
💪 #Resilience. You don't lead a Procurement team through COVID, a global microchip crisis and an inflation phase without growing a thicker skin!
🏔 Unbeatable quality of life 🌄. Just look at the backdrop of the picture. Where in the world can you find an exciting industrial job nested in gorgeous mountains, in an area which is both super safe and full of century-old traditions?
👥 People. With my colleagues, we addressed a multitude of business challenges and we went through a lot professionally, of course... but with them I also herded cows, learned "ski touring", climbed mountains, visited a panda reserve, partied until dawn, rode everything from horse carriages to night trains and had plenty of heartfelt laughs 🤣. I will miss them.
Yes, I look forward to what comes ahead, but I wanted to take a moment to give credit where credit is due. This place, this company and these people have taken me to where I am today, and I am grateful for that 🙏. Thank you and let us stay in touch!
