[Google Play Cleanups] Every month, Google Play removes over 100,000 apps—far more than it adds. I consider this excellent news, as the mobile indie market is frankly stagnating. The competition is super high, organic reach is either non-existent or only appears with paid promotion, making regular iteration of the game quite expensive. I want to believe that this trend will continue, thereby partially reducing the competition for organic reach. Although, most of the removals are still related to violations of Google's rules. #GooglePlayCleanup #AppMarketTrends #MobileIndieStagnation #CompetitionInApps #OrganicReachChallenges #IndieGameDevelopment #AppStoreOptimization #DigitalMarketplace #GooglePlayPolicies #AppRemovals #TechNews #GameDevCosts #ReducingCompetition #AppIndustryInsights #PolicyCompliance #google #unity #gamedev #gamedevelopment #devhubgames #sushidiver

Google Play store : Discover, Download, Delight: Your Gateway to Endless Apps and Entertainment ! The Google Play Store serves as the cornerstone of the Android ecosystem, providing users with access to millions of apps, games, and digital content. "Bark Away" is available now on mobile devices! "Bark Away," the game developed by my partner Adi Yafe and me, features a mischievous dog causing chaos at the owner's house. During the Game Development course, each of the 18 teams created an original game. Initially, we had to brainstorm an idea for the game. This was a challenging task, given the abundance of games nowadays. Most of us have encountered mischievous behavior of a dog, such as stealing food from the table. And if you haven’t experienced it first-hand, you probably know a friend or colleague who has. This idea inspired us to reverse the situation, creating new encounters that this time are enjoyable. By providing an experience from a dog's perspective, now it is your chance to cause chaos! We were truly invested in the concept, and after three months of dedicated effort, we successfully developed a fully functioning game. To conclude the course, a competition was held, which was evaluated by reputable companies such as Overwolf, Ilyon, CrazyLabs, OneCode and GoECraft. It was an incredible honor to secure the second-place position, and our next goal was to make the game accessible to mobile users. With great delight, we announce its availability on Google Play! https://lnkd.in/d-Bqn5pt

Apple App Store and Google Play Store should introduce a feature for users/players to sign up to a developer's accounts and get notified on new app releases or announcements, through notifications or email. This would immensely help indie devs in getting organic traction for their games over some time. If you can ship a high-engagement game, players would love to play your upcoming titles and sign up for it. Developers would be able to directly convey important messages and releases. This is already happening through Twitter/Discord/Reddit, but Apple & and Google should think about making the stores more interactive from both ends. -------------------------------------- Join 400+ readers learning about ai/game dev: https://lnkd.in/dXc9JmWU #videogames #gamedevelopment

My mini category generator for parties is already available on Google Play 😁 I'm slowly working on my platformers in Unity until my laptop starts to refuse obedience because it's overloaded. I think, "I'll work on other projects for a while; after buying better equipment, I'll come back and finish my 'more ambitious' games." That is until I'm gently reminded, and a warning pops up on my Google Play console about closing the dev account if the app isn't published by the X day. Oops, what now? My hardware won't let me finish my games, and X day is approaching inexorably quickly. And that's when my small, basic mobile app comes to the rescue. It’s basically a category generator for a party game. In short, if you want to play Categories, this app is a good helper. Of course, it turned out that playing with UI scaling, optimizations, version upgrades, and Google's requirements consumes some ‘mental resources’, but it was fun overall. I know it’s very basic, especially compared to my platformer games with different mechanics, but if anyone needs it, the app is already running on Google Play 😊 LINK: https://lnkd.in/dm-xzyvW P.S. Large and XLarge screens are temporarily not supported.
