📢 We are very pleased to announce that our portfolio company iOnctura has closed a €80M Series B round, led by new investors Syncona Limited and the European Investment Council. This funding will support the late-stage development of treatments for multiple neglected and hard-to-treat cancers. Since our initial investment in 2019, iOnctura has shown exceptional proof-of-concept data for its drug candidates, roginolisib and cambritaxestat. Roginolisib will be tested in a broader patient population for uveal melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, and primary myelofibrosis. Cambritaxestat will be further developed for fibrotic cancers like metastatic pancreatic cancer. Mark McKenna and several former Prometheus executives just unveiled their next venture: Mirador Therapeutics, a new biotech developing treatments for immune-driven conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract, lung, and skin. Investment in immunology and inflammatory conditions have quickly risen to the top of venture capitalists’ wish lists. Congratulations to Tagomics who secures £6.7M in Private Funding Round! UK-headquartered Tagomics announced today that it has successfully raised £6.7 million ($8.5 million) in funding. Calculus Capital spearheaded the investment round, with participation from Illumina Ventures, IQ Capital, Agilent Ventures, Mercia Ventures, and the MEIF Proof of Concept and Early Stage Fund. A spinout from the University of Birmingham established in 2020, Tagomics stated in a release that it intends to allocate the raised capital towards advancing research and development efforts for its multiomic platform. This platform aims to identify biomarkers for various diseases, including cancer, by integrating DNA fragment analysis with genomic and epigenomic analyses. Before this round, Tagomics had secured £1.6 million in pre-seed funding from IQ Capital and Start Codon, along with a grant from Innovate UK. Jack Kennefick, CEO and Co-founder of Tagomics, emphasized the potential of their multiomic approach in providing deeper insights into diseases like cancer. He stated, "These insights will enable us to develop simpler, more accurate means of diagnosing and treating patients."
