Why would experienced tech professionals seek career help? We just wrapped up another 4-week Career Mentorship Program for our Software Architecture students. These are people who have been in R&D environments for years (10+) and know their stack backwards and forwards. So why are they there, getting coached about how to take their career even further up? In a nutshell? Regularly updating your knowledge is essential for staying relevant, competitive, and appealing to potential employers in an ever-changing job landscape. After mentoring hundreds of students and guiding them to their next professional goal, here’s what we’ve discovered: 1. The best make sure they stay the best: What we hear most from our students is, “You don’t know what you don’t know.” These people are high caliber enough to understand that thinking you know everything is a sure way to mediocrity and they want to make sure they stay ahead of the curve. Who better to learn from than mentors from top companies such as Meta and Cybereason, who have been doing exactly this for years? 2. The new world of hiring: Some of our students have been in the game for a VERY long time. We’re talking 10-20 years. That’s a ton of technical experience gained, but it’s also a time when quantum changes have happened in the hiring world, and they need someone to help them catch up to these changes. 3. They understand titles aren’t everything: Some people make the mistake of assuming titles alone are enough. Not our students. They know that they must also effectively communicate their value in other ways in order to not only be considered a relevant candidate – but also become the no-brainer choice for the hiring company. If you’re a tech professional who considers yourself a top-performer, we want to talk to you about joining one of our next technical training programs. Let’s see what we can do together! 🙌

Here are the questions we have so far for tonight’s event. Join us on LinkedIn tonight at 7pm (CET) to get the answers (link in the comments). * What are the most common mistakes you see software engineers make in their career? * What is the most effective way to maximise earnings during a software engineer’s career? * Is it better to change jobs every year or stay in jobs longer (2-3 years) ? * How do you know if it's the right time to make a job change? * How can I develop my soft skills? What are the most important soft skills as an engineer? * What makes the difference between a great engineer and a good one? Any real-life examples? * Why would you move from being a CTO to Director of Engineering? It doesn't make sense. * What is your advice for someone who just graduated from a bootcamp in this lousy market? * What is the company size where you can learn the most as a software engineer? * Which main principles did you follow to be able to advance your career and become a CTO?
